HOW UTERINE FIBROIDS ARE REMOVED?

HOW UTERINE FIBROIDS ARE REMOVED

Today, women go through many health issues and in-body changes, which function due to rigorous lousy eating habits, lifestyle, and improper health care. Cases today are majorly reported in uterus fibroids.

Uterine Fibroids are found incidentally during uterine routine pelvic exam identified by the irregularities in the Uterus shape, chiefly suggesting the presence of fibroids that might grow further.

There are three types of Uterine fibroids, namely.

Intramural fibroids – that grows within the muscular uterine wall

Submucosal fibroids - that bulge into the uterine cavity

Subserosal fibroids – that projects towards the outside of the Uterus

The uterine lining is stimulated by estrogen and progesterone during each menstrual cycle in preparation for pregnancy, which promotes the growth of fibroids.

Fibroids contain more estrogen and progesterone than normal muscle cells do. The size of the uterine fibroids can range from 1mm to more than 20 cm(8 inches) or even more significant.

If the examinee feels any symptom of uterine fibroids, then they are suggested to get the following tests done:

1. Ultrasound:

To perfectly map and measure fibroids, sound waves are used to get a picture of your Uterus and diagnose the same.

2. Lab tests:

In cases of abnormal menstruation, lab tests are advised by the doctor to successfully determine and investigate the potential causes, including CBC (complete blood count) to assess anemia because of chronic blood loss and other tests to get the knowledge of the chronic disorders or bleeding issues.

In the cases where the traditional ultrasound fails to determine the presence/ existence of fibroids, then the doctor may ask for the below-mentioned imaging tests:

·   Magnetic resonance imaging( MRIs) shows the detailed size and location of the fibroids, helps identify different types of tumors, and determines the treatment. It is mainly done in women with a large uterus and rapidly approaching menopause.

·   Hysterosonography: It’s a saline infusion sonogram done with sterile water to expand the uterine cavity to get the images of uterine fibroids quickly.

·   Hysterosalpingography: It dominantly uses dye to highlight the uterine cavity and fallopian tubes on X-RAY images.

·  Hysteroscopy: In this process, doctors use light weighted, small telescope called a hysteroscope through your cervix into your Uterus and then inject saline into the Uterus, expanding the uterus cavity and enabling the doctor to examine the walls of the Uterus and opening of the fallopian tubes.

Treatment of the Fibroids includes:

The first and foremost step of this treatment is waiting because, in most cases, women do not experience any signs or symptoms initially to a great degree. In cases where mild symptoms are felt, which are pretty tolerable to live with, Waiting and Watching is the best option.

Its medications include targeting hormones that regulate the menstrual cycle and treating the primary symptoms like heavy menstrual bleeding and pressure in the pelvic area.

Medications include:

1. Gonadotrophin-releasing hormone (GnRH)Agonists-

In this treatment, you are kept in the temporary menopause-like state by blocking the production of estrogen and progesterone, which result in the shrinkage of fibroids, stopping menstruation resulting in the stoppage of anemia.

2. Progestin–releasing intrauterine device(IUD): Heavy bleeding caused by fibroids can be relieved by a progestin releasing IUD. It provides relief from heavy bleeding and prevents pregnancy.

3. Tranexamic acids (Lysteda, Cylokapron): This nonhormonal medication is taken to ease heavy menstrual periods.

Other medications include oral contraceptives to control menstrual bleeding.

Non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs(NSAIDs) are hormonal medications to relieve the pain related to fibroids.

Non Invasive procedure includes:

MRI guided focused ultrasound surgery(FUS):

A non-invasive treatment option for preserving your Uterus from fibroids. It is done on an outpatient basis without requiring any incision, and it is carried out when the person is inside the MRI scanner equipped with a high-energy ultrasound transducer.

RG Stone and Laparoscopy hospital successfully aims at treating the Uterine fibroids with the number-one guiding team of experts to

suspend the growth of fibroids and protect the Uterus from further harm with leading medical pieces of equipment and prime medications for pain relief to make the body healthy again.
