JOB DESCRIPTION

Key areas of responsibility:

As Nursing Incharge:

1)    Management of patient care. Supervise, guide and help the nurses to provide high quality nursing care from admission to discharge of the patient.
2)    Audit of the nurses in their clinical practice to ensure that they are working the way they are trained.
3)    Responsible for Clinical Audit to ensure clinical processes, protocols are followed in proper manner.
4)    Responsible for Monthly Nursing Audit to ensure the effective and efficient patient care.
5)    Responsible for preparation of Monthly Key Performance Indicators Report.
6)    Do the regular round of the patient to ensure that the patient is comfortable.
7)    Attendance and assignment of personnel (Duty Roster Management).
8)    Ensure that the inventory of equipment is done, placed in proper place in working condition.
9)    Ensure that the emergency trolley is up-to-date and everything is available and in working condition.
10)    Ensure proper nursing documentation in the patient’s file from admission to discharge.
11)    Indent and maintenance of ward stock of drugs, disposables, consumables and other required items.
12)    Ensure that records like admission, discharge, birth, death census, MLC cases etc. are properly maintained.
13)    Management of emergencies like cardiac arrest, hemorrhage, post operative complications etc.
14)    Ensure patient safety.
15)    Ensure that the infection control guidelines are strictly followed by all staff.
16)    Ensure patient satisfaction regarding clinical care.
17)    Supervise the staff nurses, guide them and help them as and when required
18)    Waste management is done as per policy.
19)    Ensure that all the queries are properly addressed and corrective and preventive action report is generated for those queries.
20)    Responsible for the welfare of staffs in the department 
21)    Responsible for periodical the performance appraisal of the staffs in the department.
22)    Recruitment, placement and orientation of the newly joined staff.
23)    Coordinate staff meetings to get suggestions for implementing improvements.
24)    Implementing standing orders and protocols.
25)    Responsible for training initiatives within the hospital related to nursing care and infection related practices.


Any other work assigned by the Medical Director/HOD/management from time to time.
