Senior citizen from Mumbai, Mr. Wali Mohammad Kasam Sokhiya, aged 101 years and 9 months presented to R.G. Stone Urology and Laparoscopy Hospital, Andheri Mumbai, complaining of inability to pass urine and a severely enlarged prostate. On evaluation it was noted that he had no major medical ailments throughout his lifetime. He failed a trial of medical line of management for prostatic enlargement. In view of the same, the team of doctors headed by Dr. Hiren S. Sodha (Chief Urologist) and Dr. Sunil S. Hegde (Chief Anaesthesiologist) conducted his endoscopic prostate surgery successfully on 14th March 2015.
This has now been documented as ‘The oldest person to undergo prostate surgery’ in the “World Amazing Records, India.” Patient’s post-operative course was uneventful and the patient was able to pass urine freely and comfortably in two days.
