Dr. Debashis Deb is Senior Consultant Minimal Invasive Surgery Department in RG Stone Urology and Laparoscopy Hospital, Dhakuria, Kolkata. He did his MBBS in 1983, Assam Medical College, Dibrugarh and MS (General Surgery) in 1993, Gauhati Medical College and Hospital, Guwahati.

He later on trained in Surgery at AIIMS for 3 years, New Delhi when laparoscopic surgery was just introduced. He learnt basic laparoscopic skills from well-known masters at AIIMS and over the last two and half decades has honed his skills attending various conferences, seminars and workshops. 

He has presented a paper on sphincter- preserving surgery for low rectal cancers, which so far forced the patients to remain lifelong on permanent colostomy. Apart from advanced laparoscopic surgeries, including colorectal, bariatric, complex abdominal wall reconstructions for hernias, he has also added Laser surgery in his oeuvre.

Besides, he has a keen interest in oncological surgery and regularly performs surgery for pancreatic- biliary, esophageal, thyroid, breast and oral cancers along with different flap reconstructions.
